Kathryn: My practice is site- specific and people orientated. The work I make is often live and in the public realm. The public performances are documented through photography, film, text and drawing. The collection of performance residue is then represented in a gallery environment. The performances are often in response to personal experiences, my understanding of a landscape and the people within that given environment. I am interested in the physical relationships between people: mother and child, friends, lovers, family and strangers. Touch is a reoccurring theme within my work. I have invited kissing, touching, hugging, squeezing, washing and holding to forge a bond with participants and the locality.
